The Tuna Advisory Board (TAB) provides formal advice and makes recommendations to Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) on operational decisions related to tuna harvest in the Pacific Region. The TAB includes balanced representation from the commercial sectors, including the coastal fleet and high seas fleet; and other interested parties (i.e. First Nations, recreational). Advisors sit for a two or four year period. The Department would like to thank those industry advisors who served on the TAB from 2006 to 2008.

The 2008 election results are as follows:

USA Zone Fisheries Waters Representatives:

1. Larry Teague (term expires in fall of 2012)
2. Gregg Holm (term expires in fall of 2012)
3. Ian Bryce (term expires in fall of 2012)
4. Gordon Cranton (term expires in fall of 2010)
5. David Chambers (term expires in fall of 2010)
6. Bruce Wight (term expires in fall of 2010)

High Seas Waters Representatives:

2. Bob McIntosh (term expires in fall of 2010)

Canadian Fisheries Waters Representatives:

1. Tom Lindberg (term expires in fall of 2012)
2. Bud Schuler (term expires in fall of 2010)

DFO recognizes the industry advisory process as an extremely important forum with the tuna industry. Your participation in the selection process and ongoing involvement through your elected advisors is important and appreciated.

In addition to selecting the ten above tuna vessel owners representatives, DFO will continue to appoint other members to represent First Nations, processors, recreational fishing, and environmental organizations as required.
